September 7, 2010 is the expected release date for female deejay Lady Saw’s latest album, titled “My Way”. The 15-track album will be released by Royalty Network (a subsidiary of the Universal Music
Group), and will be her first studio effort since “Walk Out” [Amazon | iTunes], which was released in April 2007 by VP Records. “My Way” will be the first of a two-album deal with Royalty Network, and although they specialize in the growing digital market, the album will also be available in CD format. Saw has described the upcoming album as edgy and hardcore but not raw.
Featured songs on “My Way” – “Me Hold Yuh” (Lady Saw’s response to Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh”) and “I Do Love You” (a duet with former UB40 lead singer Ali Campbell).
Buju Banton Held For Cocaine Possession in Miami
Posted on: December 14, 2009125 comments so far (is that a lot?)

GRAMMY-NOMINATED deejay Buju Banton is being held in the Federal Detention Centre, Miami, Florida, in the United States
following his arrest last Thursday on drug-related charges, a Miami Police Department spokesman confirmed yesterday.
The internationally renowned artiste whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie was held with “a large quantity of cocaine”, according to the law-enforcement agent who identified himself as Officer Gonzalez.
“He is here … I can’t tell you when he will go to court or anything like that, but yes, he is here facing a charge of possession and the intent to distribute cocaine,” Gonzalez told The Sunday Gleaner.
He said details of the arrest and subsequent charges would be released Monday morning. When asked if and when bail would be offered, Gonzalez said, “I am not in a position to disclose that information.”
Reggae Dancehall Videos was unable to get confirmation of the arrest from the Police High Command in Jamaica and key government sources who had “only heard rumours”. This suggests that the local authorities had not been informed of Banton’s arrest in the US. Currently, there is tension between the Jamaican Government and the US authorities regarding another narcotics matter.
While tight-lipped about details of the arrest, Gonzalez said that the 36-year-old entertainer had been held with “another person”.
Sources say Buju and another man were caught on surveillance camera.
A search on the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website yesterday revealed that one “Mark Anthony Myrie, 36, black male” was in custody at the Federal Detention Centre in downtown Miami and listed an inmate number.
Several attempts to contact representatives of Buju’s record label, Gargamel Music, were unsuccessful.
Coming off what has been described as one of his most successful, if not controversial, North American tours, Buju has been riding a string of successes, which culminated in his nomination for the prestigious Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
The tour, organised to promote his new album, Rasta Got Soul, was dogged by massive protests by gay and lesbian groups across the US, which said his anti-gay lyrics promoted violence against them.
Buju subsequently met with leaders of the gay community in San Francisco in an attempt to salvage the tour.

The Office of the Prime Minister is reporting that it has been able to reach a resolution in the rift between rival dancehall artistes Vybz Kartel and Mavado.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding met with the artistes at Jamaica House this morning.
The ministers of national security, education, culture and head of the Peace Management Initiative, Bishop Herro Blair also attended the meeting.
Minister with responsibility for Information Daryl Vaz, says initiatives were proposed at the meeting to help reduce the tension created by the feud, among sections of the society.

mavado and kartel at jamaica house
“We have proposed a joint treat between both artistes with locations to be identified before Christmas. A paint out day both in the schools and in all the communities across Jamaica which will be dealing with the Gaza/Gully graffiti. Both artistes will be involved in that along with the Ministry of Education. A peace concert to be arranged in conjunction with both artistes and of course The Ministry of Youth and Culture and other private promoters. those details are to be outlined by the new year,” Vaz said.
He says a song and t-shirts are to be created as a sign of unity.
Vybz Kartel whose real name is Adijah Palmer, leads the Gaza faction and Mavado – born David Brooks – the Gully clique.
Both artistes say they want to put an end to the tension in the society:
In the meantime, the information minister has defended the government’s decision to intervene in the Gully / Gaza feud.
He says the government has taken note of the fraction that the dispute has created and its likely impact on the image of the country.
As a result, Mr Vaz says the government has a responsibility to intervene in the national interest.

Mavado, Kartel performed together at West Kingston Jamboree
In a ground breaking move designed to ease the tension between supporters of Gully God Mavado and his arch rival Vybz Kartel the Gaza President, the two artistes this morning shook hands and performed together on stage.
All this unfolded about 6:00 am in Tivoli at the annual West Kingston Jamboree staged by Presidential Click.
“The promoters called Vybz and Mavado together before they went on stage and talked to them. They shook hands backstage and when it was time to perform they both went on stage and did songs together,” a source disclosed.
Naturally, it was pandemonium as the excitement level reached fever pitch and fans loudly showed their wholehearted approval for this gesture.
Things intensified when Vybz Kartel looked at Mavado and called him “my brother”, after which they brought the curtain down in fine style.

Vybz Kartel Demands US$100,000 (approximately $9 million JA) To Clash Bounty Killer & Mavado
Posted on: November 27, 2009129 comments so far (is that a lot?)

Gaza boss Vybz Kartel has made it clear that he wants to engage both Bounty Killer and Mavado simultaneously in a lyrical showdown on stage to mark the 26th anniversary of the popular Sting concert on December 26th(Boxing Day) at Jamworld, Portmore.
Among the Portmore emperor’s list of demands was that he wanted Us$100,000 (approximatelyJ$9 million) from the Supreme promoters to battle the two alliancedeejays at the same time.
“Mi waan clash Bounty and the Barba at the same time, mi ready fi deal widit, but Laing have to pay me U$100,000 fi clash dem, and the band we use have to be Ruff Kut or it nah go happen” – Vybz Kartel added.
On Tuesday, November 24th, Sting had its 26th Anniversary launch at the Pegasus Hotel, though none of the three entertainers were in attendance the mood was still high and climaxed with some heated exchange from graffiti artiste turn deejay L.A. Lewis and Mr. G much to the delightof the fans. The two are currently embroiled in a court case after Mr.G allegedly used his license firearm to assault L.A Lewis over some unsettled payments.
Though many waited with bated breath during the presentation for an answer as to whether or not the promoters weregoing to grant Kartel his wish the answer unfortunately was notforthcoming. Promoter Isaiah Laing however did highlight that this year would not be another Gully-Gaza clash as that was done last year and what transpires from here onwards will be determined by the atmosphere leading closer to the event.
Squingy R.I.P – Bass Odyssey
Posted on: November 26, 2009252 comments so far (is that a lot?)

Bass Odyssey selector Kevin ‘Squingy’ Bennett reportedly passed away last night. Doctors pulled the life support plug on the selector who had been breathing with the help of a life support machine after his lungs had collapsed. RDV would like to salute a fearless selector who respected his craft and always sought to entertain the dancehall masses with his unique skills. Keith Walford, owner of Bass Odyssey, confirmed this morning to a reporter that Squingy had died.
“The doctors explained the situation to Squingy’s brother, Keith Lawson, who gave permission for them to take him off life support. His organs had collapsed and he could not breathe on his own. Right now, we are in the process of organising the funeral arrangements. We want to keep something in Alexandria where he lived, and do something in Steer Town where he was born and where his mother was buried,” Mr. Walford said.
Squingy was the veteran of many world clashes, and took the Holy Trinity of sound clashes, winning Death Before Dishonour, the World Clash in New York and the England World Clash as well. He played for Bass Odyssey when they won the final World Clash called The Final Conflict in England last year. He was also a big favourite at the annual Grand Market sound system event in Brown’s Town, St. Ann every year.
“He will be missed. One of my fondest memories of Squingy was when we got a booking to clash King Addies in their hometown in Brooklyn at the Biltmore Ballroom. It was long before he made his name but the way he played with authority and handled them inna dem owna place was incredible. He singlehandedly dominated the clash and won over everybody in New York who saw him, he was commanding,” Mr. Walford said.
Squingy was also known for having memorable moments which will live on in infamy such as the time when after leading most of the rounds, he eventually lost a sound clash in England on a disqualification rule, after cursing an expletive during the ‘No Indecent Language’ round. Only Squingy could do something like that.
Do you remember when he came on stage in a full West Indies cricket outfit at Death Before Dishonour 2007, at Pier 1, Montego Bay, St. James. But later, he broke his leg when he fell from the rigging next to the stage. Squingy was known to find the highest perch to launch his deadly dubplates but the whole thing ended in ugly fashion when he fell and stayed there for a few minutes as the clash continued, and an ambulance came to transport him to hospital.
He broke his left ankle and wrist and his left shoulder was dislocated. In true Squingy fashion, he was not to be upstaged by an injury but took the mike and said “me want oonu know sey when me go up desso while a go suppen shock me. Nutten no wrong wid dat. So de business go. If me have a bruck han an foot, de party haffi gwaan. Leggo de clash. Mek de clash gwaan, cause de trophy haffi stay yasso.” .
Squingy was also known as a hardcore Alliance selector and at one time took a stance not to play Vybz Kartel’s songs and dubplates after the sound’s owners said Kartel had dissed them. The problem came out of a dubplate Kartel did for Bass Odyssey for a World Clash, but then the deejay counteracted that same dub for Ricky Trooper but with a twist. Kartel claimed in the Trooper dub that the dub that Bass Odyssey had was a ’splice’ and a fabrication. The owners were so incensed, they stopped playing Vybz Kartel songs for two years.
Beenie Man on RuPaul Show
Posted on: November 19, 2009296 comments so far (is that a lot?)
Well I dont know how Beenie Man can still be denying the RuPaul thing and now the man apologized to the batty men in New Zealand and Australia and now he denys that. Beenie Man’s management team has refuted Internet reports that Beenie Man apologised for his lyrics and was “heartbroken” over the furore caused by gay rights groups over his inclusion on the Big Day Out shows in New Zealand. Blue, the deejay’s manager, said that “the deejay had granted no interviews about controversy” nor had they disseminated any emails.
“Reporters from New Zealand and Australia have been calling but we have not granted any interviews so I don’t know where that statement is coming from,” Blue told reggaedancehallvideos a short while ago. “Beenie Man doesnt even talk or write like that so I know that is a fabrication.”
The article, written by Dan Satherley of 3news.co, painted Beenie Man in a conciliatory, remorseful and almost defeated light, and even quoted the deejay as writing in an email:
“When I wrote the lyrics boys were raped and murdered often – even recently a nine-year-old went to buy cigarettes for a man, came back and was raped and murdered. The act of sodomy was my concern when I wrote the song.
“I realise that those men were not gays, but were predators or paedophiles, which is not a common word in my dialect – hence the perception when generalising. I am older and realised the difference after,” he wrote.
n the past I offended others with offensive lyrics, I apologised then and now, I never took back my word. Our world is an interesting place filled with variety and we all have to respect others no matter what race, choices, culture or lifestyle. I am not a supporter of hatred and never was.”
He concludes the email with a message for New Zealand and Australia: “Australia and New Zealand, please know that I am sincere and right now I am proposing peace, one world…. One Love regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation and nationality.”
So what really is going on here!!
Lisa Hype Gives Blow Job
Posted on: November 19, 2009159 comments so far (is that a lot?)

The latest drama to hit the dancehall circuit is a photo of Portmore Empire first lady Lisa Hype giving a “blowjob” to a male who many are speculating that it’s someone from the Gaza.
However, up to late this morning when reggaedancehallvideos.com got the photo it took us quite awhile to believe that it was actually Lisa Hype giving sexual favors to the oposite sex, until we received a statement from Lisa Hype.
You Can Read Her Statement Below:
First, I would like to say that there is no excuse for a picture of that nature to be a part of the public domain. I admit that the picture is real, but it captures a personal act done in the privacy of my bedroom. I don’t know how that got leaked to the media and condemn anyone who would stoop to such a low.
However, I understand that I am a public person, and when I say or do something, either articulated and thought out, it carries weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my actions. I would like to apologise specifically to all my female fans who might be disappointed to see me in this light. However, I don’t apologise for the act itself because it was done with a man that I truly and deeply love and respect, and it was done in the privacy of my bedroom. I did it, so what?

Was Jah Vinci beaten or not?

Check out this Star story…never a dull moment in mix up entertainment.
‘Why?’ is the response from singer Jah Vinci when asked about rumours circulating on the Internet, that he had been beaten and was planning to leave the Portmore Empire.
Rumours have been circulating on the streets for a while that the singer is unhappy in the Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire, but got more intense when it was circulated on the Internet that the singer had been beaten. According to a popular entertainment website in an article that was released yesterday, Jah Vinci was allegedly beaten in his face after commenting that he was unhappy in the Portmore Empire.
denied the rumours
When contacted by THE STAR yesterday however, Jah Vinci whose real name is André Kirk Rhoden, categorically denied the rumours of his beating and about him leaving the Empire. The Portmore Empire has been credited for ‘bussing’ his career in music. “A lie dat, a rumour” said Jah Vinci, who is known for songs such as Watch Yuh Friends and Wipe Those Tears.
He further commented, “last week mi hear sey mi hand broke and all kinda ting. I’ve been getting all kinda calls from people sey mi lef Empire – it’s not true. Everything is good.”
Rumours also claimed that Vybz Kartel, who heads Jah Vinci’s management team, was taking huge portions of the payments he received.
However, sources revealed that Jah Vinci complained about this, which led to his beating. There are also claims that photos were taken of the singer after his beating.

Is there anything Usain Bolt can’t do?

He is the world’s fastest man! There is no doubt about it, we are so used to winning his 100M and 200M that the only thing we need to do these days is to just guess about the times he will be doing it in.
But then Chris Gayle hosted a 15/15 Cricket match with the proceeds going to charity and guess who took part…Usain of course. He held his own with the bat in his hand and when it was time for him to bowl, he clean bowled Chris Gayle…well Gayle did manage to hit a six off him first.
Then came that football match where Bolt dribbled the ball and kicked it straight into the net!
Not lying of course, this man is something else.
Luciano’s trial set for February 2010

Reggae’s self-proclaimed Messenger, Luciano, who is charged for harboring a wanted man, has his $60,000.00 bail bond extended when he appeared in court on Tuesday. He is scheduled to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court for trial on February 2 next year.
In March, the singer was arrested and charged after an early morning shoot out between the police and a wanted man, Andrew “Shooty Shooty” Senior, at Luciano’s Westminster Crescent studio.
Reports are that the police went to the studio in search of Shooty Shooty who was wanted for several counts of shooting and murder. During a fierce gun battle, Shooty Shooty was killed and three police officers were injured.
Luciano was subsequently charged for harbouring the fugitive. He however has maintained his innocence as it regards to Shooty Shooty’s background and says that the wanted man was never a member of his security team, as was alleged.
