“We have proposed a joint treat between both artistes with locations to be identified before Christmas. A paint out day both in the schools and in all the communities across Jamaica which will be dealing with the Gaza/Gully graffiti. Both artistes will be involved in that along with the Ministry of Education. A peace concert to be arranged in conjunction with both artistes and of course The Ministry of Youth and Culture and other private promoters. those details are to be outlined by the new year,” Vaz said.

He says a song and t-shirts are to be created as a sign of unity.

Vybz Kartel whose real name is Adijah Palmer, leads the Gaza faction and Mavado – born David Brooks – the Gully clique.

Both artistes say they want to put an end to the tension in the society:

In the meantime, the information minister has defended the government’s decision to intervene in the Gully / Gaza feud.

He says the government has taken note of the fraction that the dispute has created and its likely impact on the image of the country.

As a result, Mr Vaz says the government has a responsibility to intervene in the national interest.
